Back in 1993, a woman in Bismarck, North Dakota named Deidre Handtmann managed to track down her birth mother, who gave her up for adoption more than 40 years ago.
They grew pretty close, until the mom died earlier this year. And in her obituary, it said that reuniting with Deidre was the highlight of her life. Then a woman named Buddine Bullinger found out about the obituary.
It turns out Buddine was given up for adoption by the SAME WOMAN. And even though Buddine knew her name, she'd never tried to contact her. But when Buddine realized she had a SISTER, she decided to get in touch.
After the two women reunited several months ago, they started wondering if they had OTHER siblings. So they contacted the agency that handled their adoptions, and found out about THREE MORE siblings.
There was another sister named Sandy, and two brothers both named John. Earlier this month, all five of them got together for the first time EVER. And DNA tests came back proving they're all FULL-BLOODED siblings.
The weirdest part of the story is that Buddine actually knew one of the brothers BEFORE all this happened. She works at a Walmart in Dickinson, North Dakota, and John is a frequent customer. (The Dickinson Press / Yahoo / KXNET.com)
