A disabled elderly couple was driving outside Des Moines, Iowa last Wednesday, when their car stalled on a set of train tracks . . . just as a TRAIN was barreling down on them.
Luckily, a bank employee named Chris Ihle saw them.
Chris was coming back from lunch, saw the car on the tracks, and realized a train was coming. So he ran to the car and started pushing.
But he had trouble getting traction . . . because he'd been to a Dwight Yoakam concert the night before, and had decided to keep the country theme going by wearing his COWBOY BOOTS to work.
First, he tried to push the car FORWARD. Then he realized that only the FRONT of the car was on the tracks. So he ran to the front, dug his toes in, and managed to push the car off the tracks JUST as the train went by.
According to the couple, he actually had to jump out of the way to avoid getting hit. They also said that if they had to do it over again, they wouldn't have just sat there trying to start the engine . . . they would have concentrated on getting out of the car.
