The website Reddit is a good place to waste ten minutes looking for random stuff that's trending online. But every now and then, they do something worthwhile. And we think this qualifies.
There's a two-year-old girl at the Children's Hospital in Los Angeles named Hazel Hammersley, who's undergoing chemotherapy for stage 3 neuroblastoma.
Last week, her mom and grandmother decided to goof around, and used pieces of masking tape to write a message on her fourth-floor window facing the street. It said, quote, "SEND PIZZA [ROOM] 4112."
For a few days, nothing happened. Then on Saturday, someone posted a photo of it on Reddit, it shot to the top of the site, and within MINUTES, someone had placed an order. By Saturday evening, over TWENTY PIZZAS had been delivered.
In fact, there was SO much pizza, the hospital had to put up a message on their website thanking people, and saying that no more pizzas were needed.
Hazel's mom posted photos on her blog, and said Hazel woke up from a nap with all the pizza she could possibly eat . . . and that several other kids came to her room for a pizza party. (Gawker / Blogspot / Fox13Now)
(Instead of more pizza, Hazel's mom said people can donate to childhood cancer research, or to Hazel's fundraising page.)
