There's a Painful New Diet That Involves a Piece of Plastic Sewn on Your Tongue . . . But You'll Lose 30 Pounds in One Month
How much PAIN would you be willing to take, to lose a ton of weight in one month? There's a new surgery that REALLY pushes the limit.
A surgeon in Beverly Hills, California named Nikolas Chugay came up with a patch that's sewn on your TONGUE . . . and leads to MAJOR weight loss. But it also leads to MAJOR pain. And it's pretty expensive.
The patch is the size of a postage stamp, and is made out of the same plastic they use to make HULA HOOPS. It's attached to the tongue with six stitches and can cause swelling, severe pain, and trouble talking.
But . . . because you can only drink liquids, and you stick to a strict regimen, you can lose up to THIRTY POUNDS.
You can only keep the patch on for a month, because otherwise your tongue tissue will start growing over it. But the procedure costs $2,000, and only about 60 people have gotten it in the four years since Chugay started offering it.
The procedure has NOT been FDA approved, and could put you at real risk for infections or possibly even permanent damage. But hey . . . 30 pounds in one month, right! (Time)
